Big Gray formed in 1999 when Lucas Jensen's bandmates in PacificUV failed to tell him that there was no practice that day. They failed to tell him a lot of things, by the way, like when he was no longer in the band. Undeterred, Lucas decided to fiddle with a 4 track and teach himself to play the keyboards in the process. He did a mediocre job of both, but did manage to crank out a few songs that eventually became the first Big Gray album, Jensen!, which was distributed to some old college pals at the Y2Kegger celebration in Pigeon Forge, TN. To this day, Lucas is unsure if anyone ever actually listened to those cassettes.

Big Gray hit the studio in 2000 and recorded a couple albums' worth of material, much of which has yet to see release out of a mixture of malaise, ennui, and laziness.

In 2005, Big Gray: The Band was born after a number of aborted attempts. Big Gray played five shows in one month and was then relatively inactive after core member Nate Deyonker's departure. Richard Worthington replaced him and the shows and practices seem to be gaining in frequency and quality. Look for Big Gray to take the greater Athens-Clarke County area by storm in 2007!

The Chamber of Commerce record label in Athens, GA has decided, in all of its finite wisdom, to release Jensen! and second album, Perhaps the term non-professional is a misnomer. These records will be "officially" released in July, 2007.
